About Winchester Joinery & Flooring Ltd

BESPOKE JOINERY    Winchester Joinery Ltd was started in 1994 by Alan Foster. The company developed into a well established business employing over twenty people working at their Winchester based premises. Working mainly with architects, developers, contractors and builders the business was built mainly on its ability to replicate joinery for historic buildings and produce high quality bespoke joinery.

VROGUM     in 2005 the company was appointed main distributor for Vrogum A/S of Denmark. This enabled customers to obtain high performance timber windows and doors, made to order in Denmark, delivered to Winchester fully finished, glazed and ready to install. This range of windows and doors, having been designed to cope with the Scandinavian climate, meets all the requirements for heat efficiency right up to Passiv Hous standard.

ENGINEERED WOOD FLOORING   The last five years or so has seen a dramatic change in the wood flooring market. Whilst solid wood floor boards have been used successfully in buildings for many hundreds of years, the growing popularity of underfloor heating systems has led to a change from solid to engineered boards. The wear layer of an engineered board is the same as that of a solid board, i.e. down to the tongue/groove. An engineered board's wear layer is bonded with special adhesive to, usually, a high grade plywood. This is designed to keep the board flat and stable, and prevent the "cupping" which can ocur on solid boards. The demand for bespoke engineered flooring, with customers being able to choose timber specie, board width and profile has generated the requirement for a local production facility to meet this.

2010 - A NEW COMPANY - Winchester Joinery & Flooring Ltd

The growth of our flooring business, coupled with commissioning of state of the art production machinery to produce our own engineered flooring led to the decision to combine all our operations into one company with a name which more acurately describes our actrivities.
